THIS WEEK
• The RV Pilot Women's and the Men's cross country team will compete on Friday. Oct. 28 in the WCC Championships at Alumni Park in Malibu, Calif. hosted by Pepperdine University.
• The women's 6K will kick off the races starting at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11 a.m.
• In 2022, both the Pilots men and women finished third overall at this meet.

THIS SEASON
•Tiahna Woodger ran a personal best of 21:18.9 for the 6K distance to lead the Pilot women to a second-place finish overall.
•The Pilot men won the meet overall, led by a second place finish by Chris Anderson in 24:04.8.
•The Pilots competed at the George Oja Invitational in Liberty, Calif.
•The men finished 30th at Nuttycombe, finishing ahead of No. 27 NC State.
•The women finished 23rd overall at the Nuttycombe Invitational, beating multiple ranked teams included No. 14 North Carolina and No. 26 New Mexico.
•The Pilots traveled to Madison, Wis. for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
•Cohen Williams was voted WCC Runner of the Week for leading with his 24:25.0 PR performance.
•All five scoring members of the Pilots women's cross country team ran personal bests for the 5,000 meter distance, led by Stina Pettersson's 17:41.4 performance.
•Cohen Williams (24:25.0), Connor Kennedy (25:18.4) and Kevin Andrews (25:21.7) all ran personal bests to be the first, fourth and fifth scoring Pilots, respectively.
•The Portland men finished fifth overall at the 48th Annual Charles Bowles Invitational, while the women finished sixth.
•The Portland men finished sixth at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, led by Nate Lantz's 11th place finish.
•Nate Lantz (24:07.6), Isaac McGill (24:13.2), Pedro Vazquez (24:57.7), Lakelin Conrad (24:58.0) and Aidan Fitzgerald (25:22.5) all ran personal bests on the day.
•Both the Pilot men and women finished fourth overall at the Roy Griak Invitational.
•Danny Abdala, Jona Bodirsky and Matt Strangio finished 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively.
•Laura Pellicoro finished seventh overall at the Roy Griak Invitational, earning herself WCC Women's Runner of the Week.
•Portland's Men's and Women's Cross Country competed in the Oak Knoll Loop Run, finishing first and second, respectively.
• All five of the Pilot female scorers ran personal bests on the day.
•The women were led to their second place finish by Stina Pettersson who finished third overall in a PR of 22:07.8. She was followed by Tait Rowley (9th, 22:30.2), Izzy Lochtefeld (11th, 22:42.1), Madison Griffith (14th, 22:51.7) and Katie Newton (15th, 22:52.7). Â
•Kennedy and Durr also PRed for the 8k distance finishing in 25:31.5 and 25:37.2, respectively.
•The men were led by Lakelin Conrad who finished second overall in a PR of 25:08 for the 8K distance. Conrad was followed by Brady Martisus (5th, 25:17.3), Connor Kennedy (7th, 25:31.5), Evan DeLaCruz (8th, 25:33.7) and Steven Durr (10th, 25:37.2).
•The Pilot men finished first at the Linfield Harrier Classic, scoring a total of 23 points, beating their closest competitor, University of Oregon, by 18 points.
•The Pilot women finished fourth overall at the Linfield Harrier Classic, scoring a total of 88 points.
•For the men, Eliason Kabasenche finished second overall in a time of 18:19.50 for the 6k distance. He was followed by Dalton Kaines (Third, 18:20.6), Paul Law (Fifth, 18:26.0), Nate Lantz (Sixth, 18:26.2) and Isaac McGill (Seventh, 18:27.8).
•For the women, Tiahna Woodger led the Pilots with a ninth place finish in 14:06.9 for the 4k distance. She was followed by Stina Pettersson (16th, 14:16.80), Tait Rowley (23rd, 14:39.4), Madison Griffith (31st, 14:59.0) and Katie Newton (37th, 15:12.6).
•Both Nate Lantz and Isaac McGill dawned the purple and white for the first time, placing sixth and seventh, respectively.
•Madison Griffith made her Pilot debut, finishing 31st overall.
•The Pilot men are ranked second in the NCAA West Regional Coaches Poll.
•Portland's women are coming in ranked seventh in the West Region.
•Nationally, the Pilots are ranked ninth in the country, the first preseason top-10 placing since 2020.
•The Pilot men added a total of 12 newcomers to the roster, including three transfer students and nine freshmen.
• Portland's women added two transfer students and nine freshman to total 11 newcomers.
LAST SEASON
• Pellicoro finished 15th overall at the NCAA Championships, earning All-American honors.
• Laura Pellicoro winished second overall at the NCAA West Regional Champonships, the highest ever for a Pilot woman, earning her spot at the NCAA Championships.
• Matt Strangio and Bradley Peloquin both earn all-regional honors, finishing 17th and 18th, respectively.
• The Pilots competed in and hosted the WCC championships at Fernhill Park in Portland, Ore. Both the men and the women finished third overall. The women were led by Laura Pellicoro's second place finish, while the men were led by Bradley Peloquin who placed 10th overall.
• The Pilot women were led to their third place finish by scorers Laura Pellicoro (second), Courtney Klatt (10th), Mie Nielsen (23rd), Claire Fagan (24th) and Sam Prusse (27th).
• The Pilot men's third place finish was secured by their five scorers Bradley Peloquin (10th), Matt Strangio (13th), Zak Kirk (16th), Jakob Kintzele (19th) and Ahmed Sado (22nd).
• For the first time in their careers, Laura Pellicoro, Bradley Peloquin and Courtney Klatt earned First Team All-WCC honors.
• Matt Strangio earned Second Team All-WCC honors for the first time in his career.
• Nolan Hosbein was awarded WCC Freshman of the Year for his 26th place finish.
• The Pilots competed at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational where the men finished 11th and the women finished 33rd. The men beat several ranked teams including No. 9 Syracuse, No. 10 North Carolina, and No.11 Iowa State. Matt Strangio led the Pilots finishing 38th. Jakob Kintzele made his Pilot debut to finish third for the Pilots. The women were led by Laura Pellicoro who finished 32nd overall.
• The Pilots raced at the Lewis & Clark Invitational where the men won the meet. The men were led by Daniel Racle who finished second overall. The women finished ninth overall in the meet and were led by Lauren Block who finished 27th overall.
• The Pilots raced at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational hosted by University of Willamette. The Pilot men finished first overall, and the Pilot women finished fourth overall.
• The men were led by Chris Anderson who finished in sixth, followed by Cohen Williams, Eiliason Kabasenche, Leo Donlea, and Justin Hazell to round out the winning team's top-five.
• The Pilot women were led by Teresa Perez who finished fourth overall, finishing in a PR 5K mark.
• The Pilots competed at the Bill Dellinger Invitational hosted by University of Oregon. The Pilot men finished second overall, while the Pilot women finished fifth overall.
• Laura Pellicoro was named WCC Runner of the Week for her second place finish in a 6k PR time of 19:58.3.
• The Pilot men raced at the Ash Creek Invitational hosted by Western Oregon. Justin Hazell was Portland's top finisher, finishing second.
• Hazell was named WCC Runner of the Week for his team leading efforts.
• Hazell was followed closely by Cohen Williams (fourth), Brady Martisus (eighth), Kevin Williams (ninth) and Kai Vickers (15th) to round out the Pilot's scoring five. The Pilots finished second overall with 38 points.
• The Pilot men started off with a strong finish in their first outing of the 2022 season, winning the Viking Rust Buster 19 points led by Henry Mong. The remaining scorers were Daniel Rackle (third), Leo Donlea (fifth), Eliason Kabasenche (sixth) and Justin Hazell (seventh).
• The Pilot women opened their season with a third place finish (51 points) this season, led by Abby Lawrence who finished second. Their scoring five were rounded out by Courtney Klatt (third), Teresa Perez (15th), Lauren Block (24th), and Tiahna Woodger (27th).
• Cathal Doyle, Matt Strangio and Laura Pellicoro qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas. Doyle would finish 15th overall in the 1500 meter event, earning second team All-American Honors, Strangio would finish 22nd and Pellicoro would finish 19th.
PILOT HISTORY
The Pilot men have qualified for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships 22 times, 18 of which have been top-20 finishes under head coach Rob Conner. In 2017, the team finished an astounding second and in 2018, the team finished in a respectable third. The Pilot women have qualified for the NCAA Cross Country National Championship three times, with a highest finish of 12th under coach Ian Solof.
PILOTS IN THE POLLS
• In the NCAA DI Cross Country National Coaches Week 5, the Pilot women are receiving votes for the third week in a row. The Pilot men are no longer receiving votes.
• In the West Region Rankings, the men are currently fourth in the region, while the women sit at seventh.
