SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Head Coach Rob Conner has been named the WCC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, marking his ninth time earning this prestigious honor. Additionally, Matt Strangio has been recognized as the WCC Co-Runner of the Year for his outstanding performance during the recently concluded cross country season, securing this title for the second consecutive year.
Under Head Coach Conner's guidance, the Pilots celebrated a remarkable season, capturing their 35th WCC Cross Country Championship title. The team kept their competitive strength with a fifth-place finish at Regionals. Pilots' season continued to shine with Matt Strangio's exceptional performances at Nationals of All-American 22nd-place finish. This honor marks Conner's ninth Coach of the Year honor, with his previous title coming in 2014.
Strangio played a pivotal role throughout the season, leading the Pilots to their first WCC Championship victory in 10 years while securing an impressive individual second-place finish. He replicated this achievement at Regionals, further proving his status as a standout performer and earning his place on the national stage. Strangio's efforts culminated in an All-American honor with a 22nd-place finish at Nationals—the highest by a Pilot at the event since 2018.
