PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots fell in their second ever home match at the Tom and Meg Names Family Foundation Beach Volleyball Courts, losing 4-1 to the Oregon Ducks. The match concludes the regular season for the Pilots.
Portland started strong with a win in the fifth flight. Elena Bullemer and Valerie Bruk were the 5s for Portland, winning 21-17 and 22-20. The 3s were the next flight to finish, trading points the whole way but ultimately losing 21-13 and 21-15. The Portland 1s pushed it to three sets in their flight, but Leonie Freytag and Elin Larsson came up just short.
The clinching match for the Ducks came in the fourth flight. Kili Robins and Jordan Bardouche fell 21-10 and 21-17 in the match. The Portland 2s of Annika Stammberger and Sophie Lee played a tightly contested match, but fell 21-18 and 22-20, to wrap up the day. After the match, Portland honored their two seniors, Kili Robins and Sophie Lee.
Next up, the Pilots are off to Santa Monica for the 2024 WCC Championships. The tournament runs from April 25-27. Check PortlandPilots.com for more information.
