SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland Pilots Women's Basketball will play on national television this season, with the matchup between the Pilots and the Gonzaga Bulldogs set for Feb. 28 being selected by ESPN.
The two teams will play on ESPNU that day, with game time set for 5 p.m. As of now, it is the only WCC women's basketball matchup set to air on ESPN. The last regular season game for to be picked up by ESPN was in 2024, when the Pilots also played the Bulldogs in Spokane.
The Pilots had one of the best seasons in program history in 2024-25, posting a 31-5 record overall and 17-3 record in WCC play. Both win totals broke a program record for regular season wins and wins in conference play, giving Portland a share of the WCC Regular Season title. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the WBIT in their first time ever in the tournament, earning two playoff wins on the road for the first time in program history, including a win over the Stanford Cardinal in the opening round. They advanced to their third straight WCC Tournament Championship game and their fourth in six seasons as well.
The Bulldogs were co-champions with the Pilots, earning a WCC Regular Season Title as well. They finished with 24 wins and qualified for the WBIT themselves, advancing to the quarterfinals. The Pilots and Bulldogs played each other in the 2023 and 2024 Credit Union 1 WCC Basketball Championship final, with the Pilots taking both contests.
Portland opens the regular season on Nov. 4 against the Willamette Bearcats. The two teams play at the Chiles Center, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for tickets, live stats and video options.
