SALEM, Ore. -- Portland Pilots Beach Volleyball opened season on Friday with three matches at the Corban Invitational. Pilots came up short against the Corban Warriors 2-3, while falling 0-5 to the Oregon Ducks and Sacramento State Hornets.

The Portland 1s opened the tournament strong, with Elin Larssson and Leonie Freytag defeating the Warriors in two sets. Emily Wood and Annika Stammberger pushed Corban to three games in the 2s match, earning another win for Pilots. Unfortunately, Portland 3s, 4s and 5s came up short in their first match. Pilots couldn't overcome the Warriors, the Ducks and the Hornets, falling short 2-3 to Corban and 0-5 sweep to Oregon, Sac State.

The Pilots will host Southern Oregon at home next on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Mar. 1 at 11 a.m. For more coverage, visit PortlandPilots.com.
