Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over Santa Clara in West Coast Conference action Saturday at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots (6-8, 1-3 WCC) improve to 6-0 at home this season, while the Broncos (6-9, 0-2) have lost eight straight.

Portland grabbed the early lead by securing the doubles point. The Pilot No. 1 tandem of Sally Pethybridge and Alaia Rubio Perez continued their good form with a 6-2 win against Tian Yu Dong and Jillian Roa. They are now 9-2 this spring in doubles, including 2-0 against league competition.

Portland's No. 2 team of Aleksandra Dimitrijevic and Nadine Arbaizar Martinez then clinched with a 6-4 win over Daniella Dimitrova and Anna Rahman.

Rubio Perez then doubled the team lead with a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Yu Dong at No. 2 singles.

Dimitrova pulled out a three-set comeback against Pethybridge to make it a 2-1 overall deficit. Dimitrijevic then outlasted Velizara Fileva 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 3 and was followed by Arbaizar Martinez providing the match clincher with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Anna Rahman at No. 5 singles.

Portland completed the scoring with freshmen Isabella Marquart and Maria Galatescu earning wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

The Pilots continue WCC play next week with a single match at Pacific on Saturday, April 5 at noon.
