VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Portland Pilots hosted the Portland Invite at Vancouver Lake on Saturday, winning two out of three races at Vancouver Lake. The Pilots won both varsity eight races and took second in the novice four race.
 
The Pilots had two other events on the day, with the Pilots holding an alumni row with various alumni rowing on Vancouver Lake as well as their Senior Day Ceremony. Natalie Baier, Phoebe Barkann, Kate Feustel, Gabriela Garcia, Clarissa Gutierrez, Mia Kilmister, Sarah Redmond, Addison Thomas and Gaby Twitchell were all honored in the ceremony.
 
The Novice four led things off, with Portland taking second to Seattle U. Bella Valenzuela was the coxswain with Gabby Wolfe as the stroke. The second and third varsity eight took first and second respectively, with the second varsity eight winning buy just 1.4 seconds. Clarissa Gutierrez and Gaby Twitchell were the coxswain and stroke for the second varsity eight while Natalie Petty and Madi Quinton were in the same position for the third varsity eight.
 
The first varsity eight finished off the racing for the day, taking first against both Seattle U and Santa Clara with a time of 7:13.5. Leahbelle Paladino was the coxswain with Kate Feustel as the stroke.
 
The Pilots will be back in action two weeks from now at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Gold River, Calif. The racing will run from April 26-27. Check PortlandPilots.com for more information.
