SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second time this season, the Portland Pilots first varsity eight boat garnered WCC Crew of the Week honors. They become the third team to win multiple WCC Crew of the Week honors this week.
The first varsity eight earned the award after winning their race at the Portland Invite this past weekend. They beat the Santa Clara Broncos and the Seattle U Redhawks to take first, winning by 7.3 seconds. It was their second win of the season after winning at the Puget Sound Invite back in March.
The Pilots earned wins in two out of three races at the Portland Invite this past weekend, with the first and second varsity eight boats winning on Saturday. The Pilots have earned wins at the Puget Sound Invite and the Sacramento State Invite as well, with the first and second varsity eight as well as the varsity four winning at the Puget Sound Invite and the third varsity eight winning at the Sacramento State Invite.
Portland resumes action next weekend at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships (WIRAs). They will race from April 26-27. Check PortlandPilots.com for more coverage.
