CHENEY, Wash. – The Portland Pilots women’s tennis team ended the regular season with a demolition of West Coast Conference opponent Gonzaga (5-2) and Eastern Washington (5-1) on the road last weekend, improving its record to 7-10 on the season.
Sophomore Lacey Pflibsen and junior Megan Sporndli had a perfect 3-0 weekend winning two singles matches each and pairing up for a doubles win.
The Pilots also picked up wins at the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles positions in both matches. Against Gonzaga, senior Anna Gullickson playing at the No. 6 spot split the first two sets both ending in tiebreakers. She then went ahead to win the final set in a lengthy 18-16 battle.
The Pilots now look ahead to the WCC Championships next weekend April 17-19 in San Diego, Calif. Tournament pairings and a complete bracket will be released shortly on portlandpilots.com
