Well, we only have two weeks left in our season and three more games to play. This Saturday’s game against the LMU Lions is Danielle’s senior night and we are all sad to see the end so near. Danielle has been so much more than just a libero for us; she is a large part of the foundation that supports our team and her shoes will be hard to fill. Her dedication and passion for the game, her constant focus, and all out effort in every practice, life, and game, will be what I strive to be. She has been an amazing teammate and a strong role model for me; I only wish I could play with her another year… or three. We love you Danielle Dupar, you are a stud.
Wednesday after practice we had weights with Coach Scott, and after our lifting we were stretching in the hallway outside the weight room. Coach Scott had us using the “hun warrior” sticks (as some of the girls like to call them) to stretch out our hips. We are all talking calmly about something when all of the sudden a stick shoots through the middle of the group making a tremendous amount of noise and I turn just in time to see Kati scream and struggle until she is sprawled out face down on top of the stick. Everyone was immediately laughing hysterically and Coach Scott was turning bright red trying to hold in his laughter, which did not last long. Do not worry though; she was not injured in the accident.
Our practices the last few weeks have focused quite a bit on serve-receive and we have made huge improvements in that part of our game. All of our practices have been, in my opinion, preparing us to challenge Pepperdine, LMU, and Gonzaga. With the new video scoreboard in place, we are excited to see it up and running for our last two home games and then we are off to Spokane next weekend to face the Zags to conclude our season. Then, with only a small break we begin our spring season, and from what I hear, it’s a doozey.
Stay Classy Pilot Fans,
Autumn
