NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Portland women’s tennis team posted a 2-5 singles record at the Sooner Fall Invitational, played at Oklahoma’s Headington Family Tennis Center.
Competing in the Singles-A draw, senior Lacey Pflibsen advanced to the semifinals with a three-set victory over DePaul’s Selma Salkovic. Pflbisen was unable to get past semifinal opponent Lutfiana Budiharto of Wichita State, and later dropped the third place match to Anastasia Erofeeva of Tulane.
Sophomore Valeska Hoath finished the weekend 1-2 with a consolation quarterfinals victory over Rachel Pierce of Arkansas-Little Rock in the Singles-C bracket.
Pflibsen and Hoath teamed up in the Doubles-A draw and in their only match lost to Arkansas’ Emily Carbone and Valentina Starkova.
The Pilots women return to action Sept. 30 – Oct. 3 at the EWU/GU Invitational in Cheney, Wash.
