PORTLAND — The University of Portland women’s tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 7-0 loss to the visiting Washington State Cougars at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center on the University of Portland campus.
The Pilots were swept in doubles, despite a strong showing at No. 3 by Valeska Hoath and Gabrielle Gorence, who dropped an 8-6 decision.
In singles play, the Pilots No. 1 singles player Sabine Fuchs challenged the No. 18 singles player in the Northwest Region in the first set forcing a 7-5 decision, before dropping the second set and match.
Portland returns to action on Thursday in the first day of the West Coast Conference Championships being played in San Diego, Calif.
