Pilots Look to Extend Win Streak as WCC Play Continues
PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots women’s tennis team looks to extend its current two match win streak this week with a pair of West Coast Conference matches on the slate.
Portland (7-6, 1-1 WCC) plays at BYU (6-5, 0-0 WCC) on Wednesday at 9 a.m. before returning home to host the No. 45 San Diego Toreros (5-6, 0-1 WCC) Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.
The Pilots had no matches last week and have not played since March 9 when they handled the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 6-1, after beating Montana the day before.
BYU, meanwhile, has split their last two matches: a 4-3 loss to BYU-Hawai’i and a 4-3 win over the University of Hawai’i as they play at home for the first time since March 2. Portland is 0-3 all-time against the Cougars.
The No. 45 Toreros are coming off a surprise weekend. After escaping with a win (4-3) over the 1-11 Wake Forest Deacons, San Diego cruised to a 5-2 victory over the No. 6 Nebraska Huskers.
