SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara Broncos pulled off a narrow victory over the Portland Pilots in West Coast Conference women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center. The Broncos improve to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in WCC play, while the Pilots fall to 4-10 overall, 1-3 in league action.

Santa Clara opened the match by winning the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Portland's duo of seniors Maja Mladenovic and Emily Gould were leading 6-5 at No. 2 when the point was clinched.

Four of the six singles matches went three sets and the deciding point came down to No. 5 singles as Nabila Farah outlasted Tori Troesch 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Portland earned singles victories at the top three singles positions. Senior Lucia Butkovska defeated Daniella Silva 6-2, 7-6 at the No. 1 spot. Freshman Radina Dimitrova completed a comeback victory with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 three-set win at No. 2 singles. Mladenovic also pulled off a come-from-behind win at the No. 3 spot by defeating Delphine Rouvillois 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Pilots will return to Portland for three matches next weekend at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. Portland hosts Pepperdine on Friday at 10 a.m., Loyola Marymount on Saturday at 11 a.m. and then Colorado on Sunday at 10 a.m. All three matches will have free video and live stats courtesy of PortlandPilots.com.
