PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland women's rowing team will travel to Dexter Lake this weekend just outside of Eugene, Ore., for the 2017 Covered Bridge Regatta, where the Pilots will race six boats on Saturday. Portland's first scheduled event is the novice eight at 8 a.m., while the varsity four concludes the day at 3 p.m. or 3:10 p.m.
 
Most of Portland's crews will be racing twice, as the majority of the events feature heats, petite finals and grand finals.
 
The second eight follows the novice eight at 8:30 a.m., while the varsity crew is the last of Portland's eights to hit the water at 9:00 a.m.
 
Next up are the fours, as the Pilots' second four 'A' boat is scheduled to race at 10:10 a.m. Forty minutes later the varsity four will race in their first event of the regatta.
 
The afternoon schedule begins with the novice eight petite/grand final (12:10 p.m./12:20 p.m.), which will be followed by the second eight's second race of the day at 12:40 p.m. Then comes the varsity eight petite and grand finals (1:10 p.m./1:20 p.m.) and the second four boat 'A'. Following the 'A' crew is the second four 'B' boat, which will race in their only event at either 2:20 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.
 
The varsity four petite and grand finals end the day at 3:00 p.m. and 3:10 p.m., respectively.
 
Other schools competing include Oregon, Seattle U, Humboldt State, Southern Oregon, Chico State, Seattle Pacific, Sonoma State, UC San Diego, Western Washington, Arizona State and Oregon State.
 
The Pilots have a history of success at the Covered Bridge regatta, capturing three Collegiate Team Efficiency Trophies. Last year Portland's second four (gold), varsity eight (silver), second eight (bronze) and novice four (bronze) each brought home some hardware.
