Former Portland standout Elli Reed
returned to campus in January as the Director of Women's Soccer Operations under newly named head coach, Michelle French. Reed sat down for an interview on this week's episode of Portside with the Pilots to talk about her soccer playing career and path back to The Bluff.
Reed recently retired from a seven-year professional playing career, the last five with Seattle Reign FC of the National Women's Soccer League. She played two years with the Boston Breakers of Women's Professional Soccer from 2011-12, and also competed professionally in Europe.
A four-year starting defender/midfielder for the Pilots from 2007-10, Reed earned All-West Coast Conference recognition every season and was an Academic All-American her senior year. She scored 12 goals with 13 assists throughout her career and was a Freshman All-American in 2007. The Pilots won the WCC title all four years, going 27-0-1 during her time at Portland. She also helped the team advance to the NCAA tournament quarterfinals three times.
