LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Portland women's tennis team officially opened the fall season by competing last weekend at the Beach Tennis Tournament hosted at the Rhodes Tennis Center. All nine active players on the roster made the trip to Southern California, which included collegiate debuts for freshmen Jana Tanevska and Neli Sunjic.

Tournament highlights for the Pilots included the doubles tandem of Tanevska and senior Jelena Lukic winning two matches in the top flight to reach the semifinals. Sophomores Marija Elenova and Angela Schuster also reached the final of the Doubles B draw.

Portland continues its fall campaign this weekend at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships hosted by Stanford at the Taube Family Tennis Center. Matches begin on Friday with the tournament concluding on Tuesday.
