PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team had a successful home debut with a 6-1 win against Montana State Friday morning at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. It marks the second straight win for the Pilots, while the Bobcats fall to 1-5 on the season.

Portland scraped out a competitive doubles point with a 6-4 clinching win at the No. 1 position by juniors Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg. Portland's No. 2 doubles team of junior Emily Soares and sophomore Lourdes Ramalle recorded a 6-1 victory.

Lukic then was dominant at the top of the singles lineup with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Laura Mary. Soares pulled away from Linnea Fristam in the third set at No. 3 singles for Portland's third point. Fristam forced a third set with a tiebreak win in the second, but Soares won 6-0 in the deciding set.

Ramalle then clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sara Iverson at No. 5 singles.

Pilot freshman Marija Elenova continued her impressive spring with a three-set win against Enni Zander in the No. 4 position. Elenova is now 4-1 in dual singles and 6-1 overall since joining the team in January.

Freshman Angela Schuster also took care of business with a comfortable 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.

Montana State's lone point came from Annie Walker with a straight sets win at No. 2 singles.

Portland will have a quick turnaround and host the Montana Grizzlies on Saturday morning with a 9 a.m. start. That match will be followed by the Pilot men versus Idaho at approximately 2 p.m. All Pilot home tennis matches will have free live video streaming, as well as point-by-point scoring.
