LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- The Portland Pilots rowing team saw two boats win their respective varsity eight races and another win the varsity four at the American Lake Fall Classic in Lakewood.

The first varsity eight raced against three other teams -- the Seattle Redhawks, the Pacific Lutheran Lutes and the Oregon Ducks -- and beat all teams with a time of 18:35.3, almost a minute and a half faster than the next closest boat. Sage Iona served as the cox for that boat, with Emma Dolcini as the stroke.

The Pilots took the following varsity eight race as well, this time Sophie Osborn as the cox and Kate Feustel at the stroke. They finished with a time of 19:29.4, which was one minute faster than second-place Seattle Pacific. The Pilots also beat Seattle U, Pacific University and Pacific Lutheran.

The final race was the varsity four event, which saw another win for the Pilots. Osborn was the cox yet again for this boat with Lexa Wendl as the stroke as they took first out of nine teams with a time of 20:51.1. Portland put a second boat on the water for this race that took fifth with a time of 22:34.3. Iona served as the cox with Feustel again as the stroke.

The Pilots will partake in their only home meet of the season two weeks from now when they welcome teams to Vancouver Lake for the Portland Fall Classic. Teams will race on Sunday, Oct. 31 starting at 9 a.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for more information.
