SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced its Women's Tennis All-Academic Team for the 2022-23 season and the Portland Pilots had four players recognized. Sophomores Sally Pethybridge and Aleksandra Dimitrijevic were named to the 12-member first team, while juniors Rimona Rouf and Iva Zelic earned honorable mention honors.
Pethybridge has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in biology. She earned All-WCC doubles honorable mention recognition for the second straight season. Partnering with Zelic, the duo became the first Portland women's doubles team to earn a national ranking and had a tremendous fall season that culminated with a Round of 16 appearance at the ITA Fall National Championships. They went 12-2 in dual doubles matches this spring, including a 3-1 record against league opponents at the top of the lineup. She also was 8-8 in dual singles matches at the No. 2 position.
Dimitrijevic has a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a business major. She was dominant with doubles partner Rouf with an 11-3 dual record and earned four dual singles win at the No. 4 singles position.
Zelic graduated this year and has a 3.48 GPA while majoring in marketing. In addition to her dominance at No. 1 doubles with Pethybridge, Zelic went 12-6 at No. 1 dual singles to earn All-WCC honorable mention this spring.
Rouf recorded a 3.72 GPA while majoring in marketing and added six dual singles wins, primarily at the No. 3 position.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team and in at least their second year at their school.
