SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Portland women's tennis juniors Aleksandra Dimitrijevic and Sally Pethybridge were named to the 2024 WCC Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday. It marks the second consecutive year that Pethybridge and Dimitrijevic were named to the 12-player academic team.
To qualify for WCC All-Academic Team honors, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to their team and in at least their second year at their school.
Dimitrijevic has a 3.93 cumulative grade point average while majoring in finance. She has nine singles wins this year including a 7-11 dual record, primarily at No. 4 singles. Dimitrijevic has recorded six doubles wins including two versus WCC opponents at the No. 2 position.
Pethybridge is a biology major with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average. It has been a dominant season on the court for Pethybridge who is 22-8 in singles overall, including 16-5 in dual matches and 5-3 versus WCC opponents at primarily the No. 2 position. She is also 20-6 in doubles, 15-3 at No. 1 dual doubles and 5-2 against WCC opponents.
Portland had three players garner honorable mention academic honors: Meagan Pearson, Alaia Rubio Perez and Rimona Rouf.
The Pilots qualified for the 2024 WCC Tournament and will face the Pacific Tigers in Thursday's opening round at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Aztec Tennis Center on the San Diego State University campus.
