VANCOUVER, Wash. – The lone home event of the year for Portland Pilots Rowing is here, with the Pilots set to host the Portland Pilots Invitational this Saturday, April 12. They will race against the Seattle U Redhawks and the Santa Clara Broncos.
Racing begins at 9 a.m. with the varsity and novice fours kicking off the Invite. The second varsity eight will row next at 9:20 a.m. followed by the first varsity eight at 9:40 a.m. Following official races, there will also be an alumni row, with various Portland alumni rowing on Vancouver Lake at 9:50 a.m. and a senior ceremony honoring nine Portland seniors, with the ceremony starting at 10:45 a.m.
There is excellent viewing for spectators along the beach at
Vancouver Lake Regional Park. Entrance to the park is free, although there is a $3 parking fee. Spectators are asked to remain in the park until after racing is complete, and then join us for Senior Day celebrations at the Vancouver Lake Boathouse.
The Pilots have competed in three regattas this season, highlighted by a stellar performance at the Puget Sound Invite where they took three of the four races. The Pilots most recently competed at the Dexter Invite against the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Oregon State Beavers.
