GILBERT, Ariz. – Portland men's and women's tennis are well-represented in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final
Division I Regional Rankings for Team, Singles and Doubles. Both teams finished in the Top 10 of the Northwest Region, while women's tennis also was represented in both single and doubles.
ITA Regional Rankings consist of the Top 10 teams, Top 20 singles players, and Top 10 doubles tandems from each region.
Portland men's team finished at No. 9 in the region after qualifying for the WCC Tournament and finishing the season with a 7-10 overall record. The Pilot women are No. 10 regionally after also qualifying for the conference tournament and posting a 9-10 overall record.
Women's tennis senior Sally Pethybridge ended up No. 20 in Northwest singles rankings after posting 12 overall wins and six dual wins against elite competition at the top of Portland's lineup. Pethybridge finished strong by winning her final four matches. She garnered second team All-WCC singles recognition.
Pethybridge and junior teammate Alaia Rubio Perez finished at No. 7 in the final doubles regional rankings. The duo posted a 17-7 overall record, 11-3 in dual matches and 4-1 against WCC competition. Their biggest win came on the road against Pepperdine's ranked tandem of Anastasiia Grechkina and Alexia Harmon by a 6-2 margin. They also earned second team All-WCC honors.
