PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland men's basketball has signed Jude Harris (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Salesian HS), head coach Shantay Legans announced on Thursday. Harris is the fifth incoming freshman to sign with the Pilots for the 2023-24 season.
"Jude is a basketball junkie," Legans said. "He has been around the game his entire life and knows what it takes to be successful. He will provide us another shooter that has good knowledge of the game and is excited to be a part of our program."
"I got a good feel for the community on my visit and knew it was the right place for me," Harris said. "I will bring a high IQ mentality to the program and work extremely hard. I'm looking forward to doing whatever it takes to help the team win."
Harris (6-5, 190) played the last two seasons at Salesian High School where he earned All-Camino Real League First Team honors in 2023 after averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game. He scored a career-high 30 points in a win against St. Pius Mathias (PMA), was named the Team MVP, and earned an invitation to participate in the Heaven on Hardwood All-Star Game. Harris also was named all-league second team as a junior.
