TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Portland men's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
All-Academic Team honors, while four players garnered
ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition: Tannor Binder, Tom Garcia, Lucas Kimelman and Stefan Skobelev.
To qualify for the team award, a program must post a GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic year. As a team, Portland's active roster posted a 3.44 cumulative GPA during the 2024-25 academic year. Individual scholar athlete awards are given to those with a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the year.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that the Pilots garnered team recognition. Portland was one of 159 Division I teams to be selected, while 994 individuals were recognized nationally. Binder earned his second consecutive scholar-athlete award, while Garcia, Kimelman and Skobelev were honored for the first time.
Portland head coach Aaron Gross added three newcomers to the roster for the 2025-26 season:
Lucca Lafrance,
Gian Manhas and
Eli Noel. The Pilots graduated just one senior, Maxim Groysman, from a 2024-25 roster that finished ranked No. 9 in the Northwest Region.
